Stella "Pat" Pier, 94, of Springfield passed away on Monday January 8, 2018 at Concordia Village. She was born on October 23, 1923 in Grovertown, Indiana to Nicholi and Eva Kopka Yakimicki. Pat married James C Pier on May 1, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2016.

Mrs. Pier is survived by her three sons: Brian Pier of Springfield, Brad Pier of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Brett (Wendi) Pier of Rochester, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three sisters: Julie Lippelt of La Crosse, Indiana, Rose (John)...

Mrs. Pier is survived by her three sons: Brian Pier of Springfield, Brad Pier of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Brett (Wendi) Pier of Rochester, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three sisters: Julie Lippelt of La Crosse, Indiana, Rose (John) Jacob of Benton, Kentucky and Mary Coleman of Wayne, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her brother John Yakimicki.

Pat helped open Famous Barr and worked for Macy's as a silk flower arranger. She was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed gardening and was a great cook. Pat was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday January 15, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos, and burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00am until the time of mass Monday at St. Agnes.
