Girard, IL- Marietta C. Watt, 97, a longtime resident of Springfield, passed away at 7:40 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard, IL.

She was born in Mexico, MO the daughter of James U. and Margaret (Clark) Cullen. A resident most of her life, she graduated from Springfield High School, attended Springfield Junior College and then graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 as a registered nurse.

She fell in love and then married David W. Watt Sr. June 27, 1942 and celebrated over 60...

Girard, IL- Marietta C. Watt, 97, a longtime resident of Springfield, passed away at 7:40 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard, IL.

She was born in Mexico, MO the daughter of James U. and Margaret (Clark) Cullen. A resident most of her life, she graduated from Springfield High School, attended Springfield Junior College and then graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 as a registered nurse.

She fell in love and then married David W. Watt Sr. June 27, 1942 and celebrated over 60 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her son Rick, her two brothers; G.W. "bill" Cullen and Col. Joe C. Cullen, her sister, Dr. F. Patricia Cullen and her sister-in-law, Tiss Cullen.

Marietta was a longtime member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Springfield. She will be missed for her smile, warm welcome and friendship by many.
Surviving are her children, David W. (Candice) Watt Jr. of Murphysboro, IL, and Margaret (Charles) Dunning of Bartlett, IL, her grandchildren; Chris, Nick, Melissa, Andrew, Justin, Lindsay, Darin, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Service: The Watt family will greet family and friends at Hope Presbyterian Church 2211 Wabash Ave., Springfield, IL Monday, May 15, 2017 from 9:30 am until time of services there at 10:30 am. Pastor Chuck Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family requests no floral tributes, rather memorials to be made in Marietta's memory to the Hope Presbyterian Church 2211 Wabash Ave. Springfield, IL 62704
